This is fun!
I've taken one of my sketches from my sketchbook. I particularly like this one even with all the mistakes.
Then I decided to resize it to 4x6 and do some image transfers onto fabric sheets. I have a gallery show coming up and wanted to make some fiber cards to sell. I had originally printed out images of some of my quilts and while I liked them, they didn't fall into what the gallery owner wanted. So, moved onto these. There will be 3 5x7 cards in a pack. Two of this design and one other that I haven't uploaded yet.
Here's a shot of the resized images:
Final: I'm thinking it needs more... any ideas???
suggestions? Yes - can I have a little of your talent please?
ReplyDeleteAs always, I look at your work with my mouth gaped.
LOVE the sketches, but I find the thread around the edge distracting. What about introducing color another way so that it's more integrated? Maybe briefly here and there in the design itself? A very light (partial) background wash? A colored-thread outline here and there on the flower? I think you're on to something really cool!
ReplyDeleteI, too, find the thread around the edges distracting, and think Michele (Textile Travelver) has a great idea for adding a bit of color i either the Wash. I love the sketch, and I don't see any mistakes; I'd like it better outlined in black, I think, and I think a more solid satin stitch might help create an edge between the white image and the white background. I love the image.
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful! (I don't see any mistakes.) Actually I like the colored thread and the exuberance of the zig zag line.
ReplyDeleteHow about a bug/butterfly in color off-center at the level of the group of leaves. Nice doodley drawing!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any suggestions because I think it looks great! Love it Stacy!
ReplyDeleteI love it! Pen and ink is a fave of mine. Maybe a color accent somewhere... like a bug or flower collaged in a corner?
ReplyDeleteFabulous work! Yeah !!
ReplyDeleteThe ideas I've gotten both here and on QAlist have been totally fab! I think I'm going to play tonight (they are due tomorrow, nothing like waiting to the last minute) and put the black fabric behind as a sort of mat. I may then take a fuschia fine point sharpie (as I think it's the only one not dried out) and add some bits of color! Whoot! Thanks everyone!!
