Sacred Threads 2013

As you may know two of my works where selected to exhibit in the Sacred Threads show this year.
Those pieces were these:
Thank you Teri for taking these!
The Gates of Heaven & Hell

And:  Moonsisters

I was thrilled to get my quilts returned along with a CD of the show and a pin.
I will be ordering the book when I can afford it at the end of the month.

My friend Teri went to the show by herself and she initially called me the same day after she had left it.  She said it was so powerful.  It was laid out in a labyrinth so you needed to 'move thru' all the quilts.  There were areas to sit and reflect and those areas came with boxes of tissues.  Soothing music was playing throughout.

I wish I could have been there, what an amazing experience The curators created for everyone!

Also, while viewing the quilts, the viewers were able to key in a code on their phones to listen to little blurbs by the artists.  Not all artists participated.  I can say that after listening to them on the CD along with viewing their work I too was in tears over many of them.  None so much as Lisa Quintana's 'Abyss'.

The ability to give this little added benefit to viewers is one that every show should employ.  My friend Leslie Tucker Jenison was telling us about a QR code generator (Stkr.it) that for a mere $2.99 you can record an audio file, you can do a teeny video or simply put a link to your site or download a PDF file .  I'm thinking of my friends who do patterns, or those who may create pieces for a cause, the possibilities are endless!

Here are some of the quilts Teri photographed.  I don't feel badly sharing since the show has ended.

What a fabulous show.

  2. Wow! Love your pieces and letting us see this wonderful show. And what a powerful idea to display in a labyrinth. Congrats for being part of that show.
